4D/3N Scarlet-banded Barbet & Cordillera Azul Antbird

This expedition stands out for the search of two very particular endemic birds. The Scarlet-banded Barbet (Capito wallacei), which has a very restricted distribution, near the area called Cordillera Azul between 1300 and 1500 meters above sea level, has a striking white throat, a band of scarlet chest and a yellow belly, different from all other barbets.

In the case of the Cordillera Azul Antbird, the species was discovered in 2016, it is endemic and also very restricted, it is a terrestrial species that lives in forests with high and dense canopy; they are rufous in color on the upper part of their body with a moderately long tail and with the wing coverts are black.

Both birds have a high interest for the birding market, because of their rareness and difficulty of observation. Furthermore, in the case of the Scarlet-banded Barbet, it is the image of the cover of the book “Birds of Peru”.
